What we collect

If you use the contact form, Candid Republic collects the name, email address, subject, and message you submit. We also store the submission time and a one-way hash of the sending internet address to limit spam and repeated submissions. The raw internet address is not stored in the contact inbox.

Our hosting and security providers may process ordinary technical request data, such as browser type, device information, internet address, requested pages, and timestamps, to deliver and protect the site.

How we use information

• To read and respond to questions, corrections, and story tips.
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site.
• To prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell contact-form submissions. Messages are kept in a private newsroom inbox and retained only as long as reasonably needed for editorial, operational, or legal purposes.

Advertising and cookies

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and personalize ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to Candid Republic or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

Visitors can manage personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and can learn how Google uses data on partner sites at Google’s partner-sites policy. Additional advertising vendors, if used, will be identified through the site’s consent controls or this policy.

Children and policy changes

Candid Republic is a general-audience news site and is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the site, its vendors, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when a material update is published.
